All of us at The Woods are very excited to welcome Rev. Matthew Gough as our new Program Director, and Christine Gough as Program Manager. Matt will oversee and develop our Summer Camp and other Christian programs. Together, Matt and Christine bring a remarkable mix of interpersonal, administrative, visionary and practical skills to The Woods. Here’s what two of their colleagues had to say:

Both Matt and Christine have dreamed about full-time camping ministry since their college days. Matt was a counselor at Mount Hermon’s Redwood camp in 1990 and 1991. Christine (Julian) served on Westminster Woods’ summer staff as a Lead Counselor from 1993-1996. She has maintained close ties to The Woods through her friendships with other alumni and attending Women’s Weekends. Most recently, Christine and Matt helped to build our new playground and were reenergized in their passion for outdoor ministries.
Matt was born and raised in the East Bay, graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Religious Studies, and later graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary and was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA). One of Matt’s most fervent passions is to help develop leaders in ministry. He believes in a church and ministry where all are encouraged and equipped to be leaders.
We are deeply indebted to the members of our search committee who donated their time and energy to the task of selecting our new Program Director. They are: Rev. Dan Fowler, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Bragg; Pat Morris, parent of campers from Community Presbyterian Church in Vacaville; Amy Morris, past STEP camper and Volunteer Counselor; Jim Yeager, alumnus from First Presbyterian Church in San Mateo; and Sheila Denton, The Woods’ Director of Ministries. We are also greatly appreciative of Rev. Dr. Nancy Weins for prayerfully facilitating and guiding our search process.
