Sunday Night Introduction – Shalom Scripture: Genesis 1:1-2:4
God created the world and called it good. God’s plan is for each one of us to be in relationship with the One who created us. Memory Verse: The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Day 1: Monday – Aloha Scripture: Genesis 18:1-8
Abraham and Sarah welcomed strangers into their home, creating a safe space for relationships. Campers are welcomed into the camp community. Campers learn that God welcomes each of us and accepts us for who we are. Memory Verse: Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2
Day 2: Tuesday – Be Still Scripture: Mark 4:35-41
During a storm on the Sea of Galilee, Jesus shows his power and authority to command even the wind and water. Although God does not prevent storms or suffering, Christ enters into our storms and calms our fears. Campers practice ways to deepen their trust in God’s care. Memory Verse: Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
Day 3: Wednesday – Agape Scripture: Luke 6:27-36
God demonstrates agape love to all humanity through sending Christ to save us while we were still sinners. Jesus instructed his followers to love their enemies, inviting them to love everyone in the same way God loves them. Memory Verse: Love your enemies and be good to them. Luke 6:35
Day 4: Thursday – Ubuntu Scripture: Acts 2:41-47
The community of the early church shows us a community where faith and reconciliation go hand in hand. God sends the Holy Spirit to make reconciliation possible between all people Campers practice ways of peace through life together in community. Memory Verse: Putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another. Be angry but do not sin, do not let the sun go down on your anger. Ephesians 4 :25
Day 5 Friday: – Heiwa Scripture: Luke 4:16-21
Jesus reads from the prophet Isaiah and proclaims that God’s message of peace and justice is fulfilled in him. Campers hear that God calls us to live faithfully in the world as disciples by living and proclaiming the peace that Christ models.
